This site is the second one I built on this  particular theme, with a fixed background image. I designed this for images to stretch to fill the browser window. This is nice because it scales well–no matter how big or small your screen it, the background image will scale to 100%. A rather small image is used for a background (I think 640 pixels wide), so it is not a burden on bandwidth.
